Helping educators, students, and institutions navigate learning, culture, capability, and change in an AI-shaped world.

About Louise Sommer
I help educators, researchers, academic teams, and learning organisations strengthen learning, communication, and human capability in a rapidly changing world.
As an Educational Psychologist, Higher Education Learning Specialist, writer, and facilitator, my work sits at the intersection of learning, curiosity, communication, culture, and professional development. I am particularly interested in how educators and institutions can navigate change while preserving what makes learning meaningful, relational, and deeply human.
For more than 20 years, I have worked across Scandinavian, Australian, and international contexts exploring teaching practice, educator identity, intercultural understanding, communication, and the psychology of learning. Drawing on educational psychology, reflective practice, creativity, and adult learning, I support educators in developing not only what they teach, but how they teach, communicate, and create meaningful learning experiences for others.

Higher education in an AI-shaped world
I am particularly interested in how universities and learning environments can remain intellectually rigorous, relational, and human while adapting to technological, cultural, and social change.
Beyond the Classroom
Alongside my educational work, I have long explored the intersections of culture, identity, creativity, history, and human experience. Since the 1990s, I have travelled extensively and studied how stories, memory, and culture shape both individual and collective understanding.
These interests informed my bestselling book The Hidden Camino, my former writing platform Herstory, and my ongoing creative practice in writing, visual storytelling, and interdisciplinary inquiry. Many of these reflections continue through my articles, speaking engagements, and the ideas explored in The Creative Lecturer.
My Philosophy
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: Students rarely remember perfect slides or polished lectures. They remember educators who changed how they think, feel, and engage with the world.
Meaningful learning begins with curiosity, grows through connection, and has the power to transform both individuals and communities.
